                                 Denise Duhamel to Judge the 2013 Loft Prize for Poetry

The Loft Anthology: New England Poetry and Art is proud to announce that nationally acclaimed award-winning poet Denise Duhamel will be selecting the winner of the 2013 Loft Prize for Poetry, who will receive $1000 and publication.  All submissions will be considered for publication. The Loft Prizes celebrate both new and established writers of poetry.

     We are honored to have such an exciting Judge for the 3rd annual Loft Anthology contest. Denise is the author of eleven books, three chapbooks and three collaborative books in which she writes with great honesty, lyricism, and humor. Her collection Star Spangled Banner won the Crab Orchard Poetry Prize.  Her poetry has appeared in six volumes of the Best American Poetry annuals, including Best American Poetry 2010 and 2011.  A native of Rhode Island, she currently lives in Florida and teaches creative writing and literature at Florida International University.

                                                        CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

The Loft Anthology: New England Poetry and Art will be open for submissions from Nov. 1, 2012 – Feb. 1, 2013.  All submissions will be considered for publication and eligible for the 2013 Loft Prize in Poetry selected by nationally acclaimed Guest Judge Denise Duhamel.

The 2013 Loft Prize in Poetry: $1000 and publication

Finalists will be announced (via email) in April, 2013.  Accepted contributors will receive a copy of The Loft Anthology: New England Poetry and Art.

Winners will be announced at the 3rd annual Loft Gala/Awards Celebration on June 6, 2013 at the new Grand Hall and Garden Courtyard, Providence Public Library, in Providence, RI.

Winners, finalists, and contributors will be honored with a reading of their work as artists and art historians “present” selected artwork at this special New England literary/art event.
